What he did wrong, didn't try to explore what he can actually do and then look for the person or, place where his talent is required.
He believed his village brother and not himself. Now, even if he has started to work there, he should utilize his weekend or, remaining hours to look for better opportunity.(why? A man or, water if they stay in a single place over a long time, they start rotting).
